It was that time yesterday. A new film. This time it was the long awaited film: The Simpsons – Movie. It has been described as a 1½ hour long episode, and I have to agree with this assessment. Not that it’s a bad thing, it’s actually a good thing. Films today usually reach beyond the 2+ hour mark (some 3+), but in most instances these films are just a “show-off” by the CGI/SFX like: Hey, look what we can do… Not that impressive film wise.

The Simpsons – Movie is a perfect amount of the deranged comedy that one is used to from the series. The big difference is in two major parts:

  1. They have put a lot more time in the animation of the characters and surroundings. It looks very nice and they are moving more smoothly.
  2. They could do things that normaly would be impossible to squeeze into a “normal” 21 minute show, even with a “to be continued…”

Well, I laughed (but then I’m easily amused…), and it’s a film that I would watch again tonight if I had the time. Unfortunately I have a date with a book about mass transfers in conduits and pipes (very exiting ;)) I’ll leave you with a image that is rightfully stolen from the web 🙂
