First order of business, my arm.
First follow-up at the doctor and my arms looks good on the x-Rays. You can see where it has been broken, but it’s now lodged into place. I was able to look at my fist x-ray, and it was oh so obvious that it was broken. Sharp edges where they shouldn’t be an all that. I’m starting to use my arm more now to regain mobility in the shoulder. Healing isn’t quite done yet, but I have to do these exercises to not loose the ability to move my arm. I do feel good about it though, and I’ve started to walk around without the sling at home. I still use it while “outside”, mostly just for comfort and to “show” that I have a bad arm.
Second order of business: I got the trainee spot at LTU, and I’m due to start the first of september. This year is going to be a hard one, with first of all the things that I have to do in the project, but also there are some really though re-examinations that I have to pass before the 1 june 2008. So don’t be surprised if you find me lodged in a book somewhere studying me arse off…
Third. My job for the summer seems to be fixing itself. Talked with my contact at LKAB yesterday on the phone, and he would look into how we can work around my injury to get me started ASAP. Probably I will be doing some reading through July as I’m still taking painkillers and motion training until the middle of July, and then coming into August, I will spend more time “on the floor” with the separation circuit at LKAB’s mine in Kiruna.
So, in two days I got a thumbs up on my arm, a future as a post graduate student and a job for the summer… That’s pretty compacted!
